Web design,once a single field of study,now has a wide range of levels. “Doing HTML,”once all that was necessary to be an expert web designer,is now merely the sine qua non of the field. Today,web development means much more. Often,today,web development requires graphic design work with CSS,XSLT and XSLT-FO,standards compliance with XHTML,WAI,Section 529 and SEO practices,and programming with PHP,Python,.NET and Ruby.
Our staff has experience with all these. We run a website which serves 600,000 hits per day. We have developed websites which enable collaborative authorship and the integration of multimodal content into traditional written genres. We have designed a wide variety of sites,using applications such as DreamWeaver,Photoshop,Flash and many other tools. We have lectured on these topics across the country,including on the Microsoft campus. We have written social networking tools,including Facebook applications. And we have taught these skills in prestigious research university classrooms,to students from across the United States.
